Why feel sorrow for Jesus in His Passion and keep him company in adoration or in the tabernacle

“This is more grievous to Me,’ [Jesus] said, ‘than all that I endured in my Passion. If they would only give Me some return of love, I should not reckon all that I have done for them, and I would do yet more if possible. But they have only coldness and contempt for all My endeavors to do them good. You, at least, can give Me the happiness of making up for their ingratitude, as much as you can.” - Jesus to Margaret Mary Alacoque

The words of the psalmist spoke to me this morning.

'Insults have broken my heart, so that I am in despair. I looked for pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none. They gave me poison for food, and for my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink. '

Psalms 69:20-21

At least the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. John were at the foot of the cross. There are also other women mentioned including Mary Magdalene, Mary Cleofas and the mother of the sons of Zebedee were there. So why would Jesus say… there was none? Because his call is eternal through time to all His people, all the elect, all who love him to be there and comfort Him. Since He has established the eternal sacrifice in time re-living everyday in the mass all around the world.

'For from the rising of the sun to its setting my name is great among the nations, and in every place incense is offered to my name, and a pure offering; for my name is great among the nations, says the Lord of hosts. '

Malachi 1:11

He also perpetuates his own words in that He desires love and company from His friends. Saints through time have understood that and acted upon that desire from Jesus even composing beautiful prayers like this one:

“My good and dear Jesus, I kneel before you, asking you most earnestly to engrave upon my heart a deep and lively faith, hope, and charity, with true repentance for my sins, and a firm resolve to make amends. As I reflect upon your five wounds, and dwell upon them with deep compassion and grief, I recall, good Jesus, the words the prophet David spoke long ago concerning yourself: "They have pierced my hands and my feet; they have counted all my bones!" Amen.

The greatest memory and company for His Passion is the Way of the Cross and the proper way to meditate on it is to be aware of the great sorrows that Jesus went through and accompany Him through them using the blessed Mother as an example, keeping his Passion in our hearts.
